Executive Director Updates Feb 2019

Welcome to the Executive Director’s February 2019 updates.

We had a good month in January with a good many days of pleasant weather.  This has allowed staff & volunteers time to recover/cleanup from our successful Christmas season activities as well as time to grow our strategies for 2019.

Also in January, our track maintenance staff completed the tracks in the RTE building and connected them to the museum existing track.  This is giving us significant additional exhibit space as well as more track space to use when we’re shuffling those exhibits.  It also is timely in that we receive the donation last year of the CSX SD45-2 and are expecting our heritage Southern E8 #6901 to return in February.

In our Crossings newsletter you’ll see information about our upcoming events. The deadline for our photo contest is creeping up, we’re still accepting registrations for our Steak Cookoff event that’s coming with Caboose Days  and  in particular I’m asking you to help us with is our Fast Track 5K .

The 5k is coming up in May.  This is one of our ways to connect with the community, grow our sponsorship base and have fun. We’re asking that if you walk/jog/run for fitness (or competitiveness) come join us in May.  Please share with your friends and neighbors as well.  Each entry fee admission to the museum for the day for 5 folks so it’s really a great value in addition to a fun way to stay healthy.

I encourage you to take a few minutes and peruse the Crossings newsletter.  There’s a dedicated cadre of folks that diligently work to bring the news that I might overlook and I appreciate their talents, time & energy.  We’re open to hearing about your experiences and if you’d be interested in being a guest author please reach out to the team.
