With a chilly winter just around the corner, we wanted to let you know the boys are taking their toys and going home. Not really! But we are suspending operations of the Duluth, Southern & Coastline in January, and maybe the first couple of weeks in February. Engines 900 and 902 will be moved to the shop for routine maintenance, and the track and passenger cars will also be inspected. Let’s be honest: riding in open passenger cars with no heat is just too cold.
We are conducting a quiet little fundraiser for 900’s (see photo) train set. We’re about halfway there to fund new paint for the deserving equipment. If you’re able, see Donate – Southeastern Railway Museum and specify your gift is intended for 900’s makeover. The DS&C has had a good year thanks to your ridership and support. The premier of 902’s train in Southern Rwy livery, the completion of our siding in Howell Station, a new water tower, and new volunteers have made 2025 special. Thank you! We’ll let you know when we plan to resume operations.
