This long shot of car 1111 is next in our series highlighting the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s Places in Peril. In our case, it’s some of our collection, not the museum. We’ve plenty to preserve and seek your support for this sole class survivor.

Built in 1937 by Bethlehem Steel, with seating for 66, it ran in joint service with Illinois Central on Chicago-Florida trains. The lightweight car was donated in 1968; it ran on the New Georgia RR and carries 11Alive on its flanks.
We’re seeking corporate or foundation support to stabilize and eventually restore the car to winter service within the museum. Imagine the impact of a freshly outshopped car on our visitors – kids of all ages.
Leaking and wanting HVAC, upholstery work , . . all 1111 needs is almost everything, and your donation. We invite you to join us as we prepare the museum for future generations.
