Antique Typewriter Type-In & Showcase

The Antique Typewriter Collectors will hold their annual Southeastern Typewriter Meeting on Jan. 25 at the Southeastern Railway Museum. The organization will display a variety of typewriters to type on. There will be an area set aside for rare, antique, custom and unusual typewriters. Members will offer basic typewriter repair, adjustments and ribbons as needed.

Nearly Normal String Band to Perform

The Nearly Normal String Band, consisting of husband and wife team Viva and Neil Araki, will be performing during the event. They play multiple acoustic instruments in several styles, including blues, bluegrass, Celtic, 60s folk and old-time Appalachian.

The duo met playing music, and when they merged their lives and instruments in marriage, they celebrated with an all-day pickin’ party for their friends

The band plays at State Parks, farmers’ markets, coffee houses, private parties, weddings and music festivals. They are also annual performers at the Friday night concert series at the historic Union County courthouse.
