Annual Spring Meeting – April 9, 2019
The Spring Program will be in the Historic Court Room at 6:00 p.m. Local historian, Lloyd Neal, has conducted research on the Milstead Dinky Run from Milstead to Conyers. A retired accountant and lifelong railroad enthusiast, Neal has traveled almost 50,000 miles by passenger train in the U.S. and Canada. He is a member of the National Model Railroad Association, National Railway Historical Society, and the Southeastern Railway Museum where he also serves as the Assistant Librarian.
The meeting will be in the Historic Rockdale Courthouse, 922 Court Street, Conyers, Ga. at 6:00 p.m. (Please enter off of Main Street in Conyers.) The public is encouraged to attend. Upon arrival, be sure to enter the Courthouse on Main Street; there will be someone at the door to guide you to the courtroom.
Lloyd Neal will speak about the Atlanta passenger train stations and book When Atlanta Took the Train first, then speak about the Milstead RR. Neal has photographs of the grade that still remains in places in Rockdale County today and other interesting research on the railroad to share.

- Friday April 12: Lloyd Neal from the Southeastern Railway Museum will present “History of the Railroads in Atlanta” and also discuss his book “When Atlanta took the Train”
- Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2881 Old Canton Road (Georgia Highway 5), in the Scout Room
Lloyd Neal will speak on the major Atlanta train stations, then and now in The Gulch, and Atlanta passenger trains in the late 1960s to early 1970s.
