SUMMARY:Second Thursday Preschool Program - Buses
DESCRIPTION:Second Thursday Preschooler Event –The second Thursday of each month from 10:30 AM-12:05 PM\, we invite you and your preschooler to get on board for the Southeastern Railway Museum’s special monthly preschool program! \nThis is an interactive educational program that allows the parent and child to participate together in activities related to the vehicle of the month. \nEach month\, the program features a different vehicle. There are 5 components to the program which revolve around the vehicle of the month: game\, story/song\, activity\, craft\, and when available\, the vehicle itself for children to see and experience up close. Each station lasts 15 minutes. The components will be facilitated by the museum’s Education Conductors. Second Thursday is perfect for your 2 to 4-year-old. \nThe vehicle for September 2018 is the school bus AND the transit bus! Gwinnett County Transit AND Gwinnett County Public Schools will be bringing buses for you and your child to experience. \nThe cost is $10 per participating child. One adult is free per participating child\, additional adults are $11. To attend\, check-in at the ticket counter before 10:20 AM on the second Thursday of any month. The program is limited to the first 75 children participants (and their accompanying adults) and we strongly encourage signing up in advance. Advance ticket sales will cut off at 8 pm the evening before the event (Wednesday night). If the event fills up or sells out online\, there will NOT be onsite sales on Thursday. Tickets are valid only for the month purchased and may not be used for another month’s Second Thursday program. \nTrain rides are not included as part of the program but may be purchased separately. So that program participants do not miss any of the program\, the train ride will immediately follow the last station (typically at 12:15 pm). We recommend Second Thursday participants take the train after the program\, but other train rides will be scheduled throughout the morning and afternoon. \nWe can’t wait to see you there! If you have questions\, e-mail education@train-museum.org. \nPurchase tickets in advance on-line: https://southeasternrailwaymuseum.thundertix.com/ \n

SUMMARY:Museum Day 2018
DESCRIPTION:The Southeastern Railway Museum joins Smithsonian Magazine’s 14th Annual Museum Day! \nFree Admission on September 22\, 2018\, with a Downloadable Museum Day Ticket  \n  \nThe Southeastern Railway Museum will open its doors free of charge on Saturday September 22\, 2018\, as part of Smithsonian Magazine’s fourteenth annual Museum Day\, an initiative in which participating museums across the United States emulate the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based facilities\, which offer free admission every day\, and open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day ticket (available to download beginning August 15\, 2018). \nSmithsonian recognizes the extraordinary power of museums\, and other cultural institutions\, to provide visitors with insight and inspiration. The event represents a nationwide commitment to boundless curiosity and the pursuit of knowledge wherever you are. Over 250\,000 people downloaded tickets for last year’s event\, and this year’s event is expected to attract more museum-goers than ever before. \nThe Museum Day ticket will be available for download at SRM’s Museum Day listing on August 15\, 2018. Visitors who present the Museum Day ticket will gain free entrance for themselves and one guest at participating venues on September 22\, 2018. (Train rides and hand car rides are not included with the ticket.) One ticket per email address is permitted. For more information about Museum Day 2018 and a full list of participating museums and cultural institutions\, please visit Smithsonian.com/museumday. \nFirenza Pizza will be on site for lunch! \n  \nTICKETS \nTickets will be available for the public to download beginning at midnight on August 15\, 2018. \nTickets are available at the SRM Museum Day listing. The Museum will accept your Museum Day ticket on the screen of your smartphone and in person. \nTrain ride tickets are also available to purchase at the Museum’s online store. Look for ‘Museum Day 2018’ tickets for both the park train (miniature train) and the historic train (full-size train). Train ride tickets are not included in the Museum Day ticket. Tickets are timed to ensure all of our guests can ride the train. Tickets will also be available at the gate\, but purchase in advance is suggested.  Please note: combo ticket pricing is not available for this event.
