DESCRIPTION:Saturdays Nov 30 – Dec 21\, 2019\nLunch begins at 12:05 pm\n \n  \nTake a break from shopping on Saturday and enjoy a light lunch and train ride with Santa. \nThis event consists of  lunch with Santa\, a craft\,  and a train ride with Santa. Children under 2 are free. \nLunch starts at noon and wraps up around 2:30. \nLunch will consist of: \n\nPizza\nApplesauce cups\nCookies\nWater\, tea\, juice boxes\n\nThe museum’s Christmas events are a fun activity for the whole family and to ensure that everyone can enjoy the experience\, children are not allowed to attend without a paying adult for supervision. Children under 2 are free with a paying adult. \nTickets\nTickets are available in our online Thundertix store beginning September 4. TICKETS.  Your ticket includes a light lunch\, craft\, hayride\, train ride\, and museum admission. \nNote: Please plan ahead. We will discontinue ticket sales at 6:00 pm on Friday afternoon prior to each event so our staff can plan food and drinks.

SUMMARY:Antique Typewriter Type-In & Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The Antique Typewriter Collectors will hold their annual Southeastern Typewriter Meeting on Jan. 25 at the Southeastern Railway Museum. The organization will display a variety of typewriters to type on. There will be an area set aside for rare\, antique\, custom and unusual typewriters. Members will offer basic typewriter repair\, adjustments and ribbons as needed. \n \nNearly Normal String Band to Perform \nThe Nearly Normal String Band\, consisting of husband and wife team Viva and Neil Araki\, will be performing during the event. They play multiple acoustic instruments in several styles\, including blues\, bluegrass\, Celtic\, 60s folk and old-time Appalachian. \nThe duo met playing music\, and when they merged their lives and instruments in marriage\, they celebrated with an all-day pickin’ party for their friends \nThe band plays at State Parks\, farmers’ markets\, coffee houses\, private parties\, weddings and music festivals. DESCRIPTION:The Southeastern Railway Museum will host the 2020 iteration of its family-friendly Trains\, Trucks & Tractors special event on July 31\, Aug. 1 and Aug. 2. \nSpecial guests for the days are planned to include (subject to change for COVID19 outbreak adjustments and subject to social distancing requirements): \n\nGwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services Mobile Fire Safety House from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday\, July 31\nA Fire Engine from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday\, July 31\, Saturday\, Aug. 1 and Sunday\, Aug. 2\nThe Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will bring its rollover simulator on Saturday\, Aug. 1\nGwinnett County Transit will exhibit an express route bus for the weekend.\n\nThe Mobile Fire Safety House teaches children and adults about fire safety\, and Gwinnett County Fire Department representatives will teach them safety skills that they can practice inside the small house. \nPlease note: The schedule is subject to change. \nPandemic recovery Note: The museum provides additional hand sanitizers throughout our complex\,  encourages social distancing between family groups and requires attendees age 5 and up to wear a mask.  As part of our safety measures\, this event will NOT have a food vendor present so we ask that everyone bring their own snacks and/or drinks.  \nPlease note: Library passes are not valid for special events or educational programs or classes.

DESCRIPTION:The Southeastern Railway Museum will host its popular Train or Treat event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 24. \nThe family-friendly event features trick or treating at decorated stations around the museum. These trains are the Big Boy\, Orient Express\, Zephyr\, 20th Century Limited and the Flying Scotsman.\nChildren ages 5-12 will partake in in railroad adventures\, crafts\, lessons\, and more while exploring over 50 historic train cars. Campers will ride both the full-size historic and miniature park trains\, receive a t-shirt\, and show parents and guardians what they learned during a graduation ceremony on Friday. Some of the offerings will be lessons\, crafts\, games\, activities\, science\, and snacks. DESCRIPTION:The Southeastern Railway Museum will host the 2021 iteration of its family-friendly Trains\, Trucks & Tractors special event on  Aug. 6-8. \nAdvance tickets are available on the museum’s Thundertix site (opens in a new tab). \nSpecial guests for the days are planned to include (subject to change for COVID19 pandemic recovery adjustments and subject to social distancing requirements): \n\nA Fire Engine  from Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services\nGwinnett County Transit will exhibit an express route bus for the weekend.\nAntique trucks & tractors from a number of private collections.  Because these are volunteers\, separate from the museum\, each day will have a different assortment of antique and classic trucks & tractors.\nHand Car rides on Saturday & Sunday.\nFood vendor line-up\n\nFri – 08/06 – Bill’s Grill 11-2\nSat – 08/07 – Cassie’s Kitchen 11 -2\nSun 08/08  – Bill’s Grill 1 -3\n\n\nMusic from 11am – 2pm  – groups (current as of July 14) are:\n\nFri – 08/06 – Harms Way\nSat – 08/07 – Blackfoot Daisy\nSun – 08/08 – Andy & Amanda\n\n\n\n\nWe are going host cab-rides in the museum’s historic Southern E-Unit #6901 during the Trains\, Trucks & Tractors event. This will be a SATURDAY only activity. You must be older than 12 years of age to participate (13 and up).\n\n\nThe schedule includes rides at:\n9:30am\n12:15pm\n12:35pm\n12:50pm\n1:10pm\n4:15pm\n\n\nTickets are available ONLINE ONLY at https://southeasternrailwaymuseum.thundertix.com/\n\n\nTickets are $30 each and include museum admission (which includes the rides on both our regular operating trains) as well as special events for the TTT event.\n\n\nAgain\, Tickets MUST be purchased online\, there will NOT Be onsite tickets sold for this activity\n\n\n\n\nPlease note: The schedule of visiting exhibits is subject to change. \nPandemic recovery Note: The museum provides additional hand sanitizers throughout our complex\,  encourages social distancing between family groups and encourages attendees age 5 and up to comply with current CDC guidance about wearing a mask.   \nPlease note: Library passes are not valid for special events or educational programs or classes.

This means that Santa Claus travels by train and he will be at the Southeastern Railway Museum on Saturday\, November 20th\, 2021! \nMuseum doors open at 9:00am and the holiday festivities will last from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Santa arrives promptly at 1:30 pm and will be welcomed by the Jingle Bell Dancers from Miss Cindy’s Dance Studio. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos with friends and family with Santa and around the museum so do not forget to bring your camera! \nWe strongly suggest that you purchase advanced tickets to avoid the line at the gatehouse – Santa always brings a crowd and you do not want to miss his arrival!! Ticket purchase includes:  museum admission\, a train ride (based on weather and volunteer staffing)\, photos with Santa between 1:45-3:30pm (bring your own camera)\, and the writing of letters for Santa! \nAdults: $18\nSeniors (65+): $15\nChildren (ages 2-12): $12 \nThe Festival of Trees also opens at the museum the same day so there are many photo opportunities for the family!
