SUMMARY:Annual Homeschool Event
DESCRIPTION:Get on board with our 2018 Homeschool Event at the Southeastern Railway Museum! The museum will be hosting a special event for homeschool families on Thursday\, October 4. Homeschool students will be learning about different types of rail transportation. Some of these modes of transportation include trains\, subways\, roller coasters\, and monorails to name a few. There will be a 6 different stations for your child to experience a variety of learning activities. Our education conductors will guide your group through the stations and help to facilitate the activities at each stop. This event is designed for ages 4-12. \nTickets are available at our online store! \n\n\nThis year we will have a special treat for our homeschool families. The museum will have a visiting steam locomotive on display during the event. It will be on property for less than two weeks. We will also have a representative from the Gwinnett County Public Library reading stories related to rail transportation along with information about programs offered by the library for your children. \nTickets will be available for purchase online. This event usually sells out\, so we recommend getting your tickets early. Any remaining tickets will be put up for sale in person the day of the event. Families will be placed in the next available time slot. The special cost for the event is $7.00 per person\, ages 2 and up (children and adults need a ticket). Children under 2 are free. Admission does not include the train ride. Train rides are available for purchase separately online or at the gate the day of the event. The number of participants for this event is limited\, so get your tickets early! Free passes and museum memberships are NOT valid for this event. \n\nStart times are staggered. If you’re coming with another family\, please plan to purchase tickets with the same start time. Tickets are NOT transferable between start times. We regret that we cannot make changes once tickets have been purchased. \n\nAfter the event is over\, you are welcome to stay and tour the museum on your own and may bring your lunch and picnic on the museum grounds with other homeschool families. We hope to see you there! \n\nQuestions? Email education@srmduluth.org.

SUMMARY:Second Thursday Preschool Program - Safety Vehicles
DESCRIPTION:Second Thursday Preschooler Event –The second Thursday of each month from 10:30 AM-12:05 PM\, we invite you and your preschooler to get on board for the Southeastern Railway Museum’s special monthly preschool program! The weather is usually wonderful on October mornings at the museum\, so stop on by and bring a lunch for after the program! \nThis is an interactive educational program that allows the parent and child to participate together in activities related to the vehicle of the month. \nEach month\, the program features a different vehicle. There are 5 components to the program which revolve around the vehicle of the month: game\, story/song\, activity\, craft\, and when available\, the vehicle itself for children to see and experience up close. Each station lasts 15 minutes. The components will be facilitated by the museum’s Education Conductors. Second Thursday is perfect for your 2 to 4-year-old. \nThe vehicle for October 2018 is: safety vehicles! Duluth PD will be onsite with a police car; other vehicles TBD! \nThe cost is $10 per participating child. One adult is free per participating child\, additional adults are $11. To attend\, check-in at the ticket counter before 10:20 AM on the second Thursday of any month. The program is limited to the first 75 children participants (and their accompanying adults) and we strongly encourage signing up in advance. Advance ticket sales will cut off at 8 pm the evening before the event (Wednesday night). If the event fills up or sells out online\, there will NOT be onsite sales on Thursday. Tickets are valid only for the month purchased and may not be used for another month’s Second Thursday program. \nTrain rides are not included as part of the program but may be purchased separately. So that program participants do not miss any of the program\, the train ride will immediately follow the last station (typically at 12:15 pm). We recommend Second Thursday participants take the train after the program\, but other train rides will be scheduled throughout the morning and afternoon. \nWe can’t wait to see you there! If you have questions\, e-mail education@train-museum.org. \nPurchase tickets in advance on-line: https://southeasternrailwaymuseum.thundertix.com/ \n

SUMMARY:Second Thursday Preschool Program - Ice Cream Trucks
DESCRIPTION:Second Thursday Preschooler Event –The second Thursday of each month from 10:30 AM-12:05 PM\, we invite you and your preschooler to “get on board” for the Southeastern Railway Museum’s special monthly preschool program! \nThis is an interactive educational program that allows the parent (or grandparent!) and child to participate together in activities related to the vehicle of the month. \nEach month\, the program focuses on a different vehicle or method of transportation. There are 5 components to the program that revolve around the vehicle of the month: game\, story/song\, activity\, craft\, and when available\, the actual “vehicle of the month” for children to see and experience. Each component lasts 15 minutes. The components will be facilitated by the museum’s Education Conductors. Second Thursday is perfect for your 2 to 4-year-old. \nIn June 2019\, we’ll be exploring: ice cream trucks! This is one of our most popular programs and has sold out two years in a row – get your tickets early! \nWe will have a REAL ice cream truck on site\, provided by Atlanta Ice Cream Truck! Ice cream will be available for purchase during the event. Prices average around $2.50 – $3 and start at $1. \nThe cost is $10 per participating child. One adult is free per participating child; additional adults are $12. To attend\, check-in at the ticket counter before 10:20 AM on the second Thursday of any month. The program is limited to the first 75 children participants (and their accompanying adults) and we strongly encourage signing up in advance. Advance ticket sales will cut off at 8 pm the day before (Wednesday night). If the event fills up or sells out online\, there will NOT be onsite sales on Thursday. Train rides may be purchased online or when you arrive at the museum. Tickets also include museum admission\, so feel free to bring a lunch and explore after the program! \nWe can’t wait to see you there! \nPurchase tickets online in advance here: https://southeasternrailwaymuseum.thundertix.com/
