The Southeastern Railway Museum will host its annual homeschool event on Sept. 26. This year’s theme is Riding the Rails.

Homeschool families, led by the museum’s education conductors in groups of 22, will explore trains, subways, streetcars, and more through hands-on experiences, activities, crafts, and stories.

Participants will explore six stations. Children will learn about rail gauges, track and train safety, get a craft, an audio/visual presentation, model railroading and train vocabulary, park train ride and meet and hear a real CSX railroad police officer.

Tickets at $9. Each family member needs a ticket to participate (adults and children). Tickets must be purchased in advance and will not be available the day of the event. Tickets are not transferable between time slots. Once purchased, tickets cannot be exchanged for another time slot.

After the program, attendees are welcome to stay and visit the museum on your own. You can bring a picnic lunch and eat here with all your homeschool families and friends at our covered picnic area.

The program is ideal for ages 4-12. Children under 2 years of age are free. This price includes a train ride on our park train, weather permitting.
